John Arthur Duggan
Cambridge, ON -It is with profound sadness that the family of John Arthur Duggan announces his passing on September 29, 2026, at the age of 94. John passed away peacefully at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. John was married for 64 years to the love of his life Ellen.
Born on March 30, 1932, in England, John lived a long and full life marked by hard work, quiet generosity, and devotion to the people and causes he held dear. Those who knew him will remember him as a loving, kind, and selfless man, whose presence brought comfort and steadiness to others. John spent most of his career in the bearing business. For a brief period, he also opened a business in Cambridge.
Outside of work, John enjoyed an active and engaged life. He loved playing tennis, hiking, and skiing for many years. He was also an active member of the Twin City Harmonizers, a performing chorus of the Kitchener-Waterloo Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, something which brought him much happiness.
He found joy in staying busy, and he carried that energy with him well into later life.
One of the most meaningful chapters of John’s later years began when, at the age of 85, he started volunteering at Cambridge Memorial Hospital as an ambassador. He cared deepl for the organization and for the role he played there, and his service became a source of great pride and purpose. John volunteered for nine years and gave more than 1,300 hours of his time. Even as his health declined, he remained committed to his duties and continued working until just a few days before his passing. His dedication was a true reflection of his love for CMH and helping others.
John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ellen Duggan. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Michael John (Stacey) Kristina Anne (William), and Christopher Andrew (Nina). He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Aaron, Victoria, Georgia, Marley, and Liam, who brought him great pride and happiness. The family would like to thank the staff at Seasons Cambridge and al the staff and fellow volunteers at CMH. Donations can be made to the Cambridge Memorial Hospital in John’s memory.
