Michael Larson
June 25, 1959 – February 22, 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael “Mike” Larson on February 22, 2026, at St. Peter’s Hospital, with his wife by his side, at the age of 66.
Mike was predeceased by his father, Doug, and his mother, Bev. He was the beloved husband, soulmate, and best friend to Jodie, and a cherished dad who loved and guided Jacob (Larissa), Maxwell, Samuel, Jonah, and bonus daughter Colina. He will also be deeply missed by his beloved doggos, Callum and Murphy. He was the loved brother in law to Shannyn (Sean) and Mel and cherished Uncle to Brooklynn, Geoff, Tyler (Amber), Noah (Cass) and his best girl Kaelyn.
Mike touched the lives of so many people throughout his journey, leaving behind friendships that lasted a lifetime. He shared countless memories with close friends including Doug, Andy, Montu, Mark, Al, John, Paul, Riccardo, Chris, Boris, Scott, Mike, and his longtime best friend and HRPS partner, Nick. Mike also had so many other friends, colleagues, and neighbours—too numerous to name individually. These relationships reflect the kind of person Mike was, someone who left a lasting imprint on the hearts of others.
Mike retired after proudly serving 31 years with the Halton Regional Police Service, including time as a motorcycle officer, before continuing his career as a private investigator.
The saying, “Everyone knows Mike Larson,” was truly demonstrated by the many friends who came to share a final laugh, hug, and memories of time spent together. His warmth, humour, and natural ability to connect with people left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful healthcare team who cared for Mike with compassion and respect. Many thanks as well to all the family and friends for the incredible support and generosity during this time.
A private funeral will be held with family. A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held on March 8, 2026, at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 36, 280 King St. W., Hamilton (Wentworth Room), from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Mike’s laughter, kindness, and devotion to family and friends touched everyone he met. His stories, hugs, and unforgettable sense of humour will live on in all of us. Remember that smile!

Thoughts are with Mikes family – he was a welcoming fella – quick with a laugh or tall tale. Very proud of his service and in particular his time as a motorcycle operator.

I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my friend and former partner from Halton Regional Police. He was a dedicated officer, a loving husband to Jodie, and a proud father to his children. Everytime we talked, I received updates. His commitment to serving the community and the warmth he brought to everyone around him will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with Jodie and the family during this incredibly difficult time. Rest in peace, my friend. I have cherished memories that will last me.

Rest peacefully my friend.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mike many years ago when he was a motor officer. I then had the privilege to work with Mike again periodically together while he was a private investigator. We lost a good person too early.

Mike was such a good guy. He had time for other people and was always willing to chat and help me out. Mike and I shared our birthday and found out we were born in the same hospital in Hamilton. I will miss Mike.

I was very sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. I met him way back in 1981 when I joined Halton from another service. He was one of the first officers to welcome me to the platoon at the old Police station on Maria Street. Mike was fairly new on the job at that time and it was very clear he was proud to be a Police officer.
I had the pleasure of working with Mike on different occasions throughout my career. One of his proudest accomplishments as an officer was his assignment to Police Motorcyle duties.
Mike was an easy going, good natured guy with a great sense of humor, and a big heart. He will be missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace Mike.
My sincere condolences to His family.

I remember when Mike started at HRPS. Great guy. Great friend. But the most becoming thing about Mike was that ‘Smile’. I ran into Mike this past November while having a coffee. He sat with us and we talked about the old days and the fun we had had. Mike looked great. And of course there was that Smile. Rest in peace Mike and thanks for being a friend.

Heartsick to learn of Mike’s passing. He was the guy who explained the ‘B-Part Strut’ to me, noticeable once guys returned from the OPC back in the day. You could run into Mike in a crowded Costco, and he made you feel like you were the only other person there. He loved his kids, parents, family, friends, and dogs all with the same intensity. And it was clear with his every post, with every conversation, that Jodie was his heart and his joy. With Mike, I never felt like a former HRPS employee or someone’s ex-wife. He was a friend – one who took time to make everyone in his path feel that they mattered. I will miss picking your brain, Magnum. You were, and always will be, one of the best.

To Jodie and Mike’s family, we extend our deepest condolences. We are greatly saddened with Mike’s passing.
Mike was not only our colleague at work but a good friend. We enjoyed our dinners out and fun times during our social gatherings. Mike’s big smile, sense of humour, and kind hearted words brought comfort and peace to us all no matter the circumstances. Mike had this ability to relieve tension, remove worry, and install confidence with a side of laughter! And of course, there was his motorcycle patrols with Nick. That smile was the largest on those days!
We shall miss you good friend! You will always hold a place in our hearts and on our minds!
Smooth riding on Heaven’s highways!
Love,
Al and Nicole Stennett

Sad to learn of Mike’s passing. Condolences to his family and close friends.
I too had the good fortune of working with Mike out of the old Elgin Street station on a tight knit platoon that worked and played well together. Mike was a friend, a fierce ‘bean-bag tosser’, a compassionate and proud police officer who valued most, his family and friendships.
Wonderful memories of you will live on.

I too am saddened to hear this news. Mike was a great friend and great cop with a passion for his Harley. I remember our trip to Ottawa on the bikes in the snowstorm to attend the Police Memorial. We froze our butts off! We stopped at a Timmy’s to warm up and almost give up, but Mike was a true leader and said we gotta go. May he find peace in a better place and be surrounded by family. Condolences to all his family.

Mike…not sure what to say. Little did I know when I jumped ship from York to Halton that I would make a lifelong friend. I met Mike on the 1st bike course at Halton that I assisted teaching. We became good friends almost immediately. We spent almost 10 years riding motorcycles at HRPS. And stayed in touch since. He’s the only person who I’d let ride side by side with me in my career. Post retirement we stayed in touch. I will miss the calls and texts ( already do). Thoughts are with Jodie and his sons. May Mike rest in peace. I’ll miss him greatly.

My sincere condolences to Mike’s family. I got to know the whole Larson family through my high school years at Sherwood Sec. A few years later Mike joined Halton R.P.S. while I joined Ham-Went. R.P. We would meetup every so often and swap war stories.
Mike – It’s now time to rest (10-07 my friend)
