Proud grandfather of Andrew (Jarah) and Christopher (Ashley) Massey; Alexander and Katrina (Josh) Massey; Jamie (Melody) and Jordan (Paulina) Thiessen; and Melanie (Patrick) Massey. Step-grandfather of Devin and Amy Hubbert.

Cliff was born in Lyn, Ontario, on May 19, 1930 to Charlie and Francis Massey. In 1932, his family moved to Ompah, Ontario, where he was raised and attended school. A hard worker from a young age, Cliff began cutting wood in the bush at age 10 and later worked in a sawmill at 16.
In 1947, he joined Ontario Hydro as a linesman during the expansion of hydro lines in the Ompah area. His work took him to several communities across Ontario, eventually leading him to Dutton, where he met the love of his life, Margaret Flohr. Cliff and Marg were married in 1952.
In 1960, Cliff accepted a new opportunity and settled in Glencoe, Ontario, where he advanced to become Manager of the Public Utilities Commission. After 13 years, he moved to Bowmanville to serve as Supervisor with the Bowmanville PUC (Newcastle Hydro). He retired in 1987 after a long and dedicated career and returned to Ompah to enjoy retirement. Cliff and Marg were active volunteers in their community, particularly with the Ompah Snowmobile Club.
After Marg’s passing in 1999, Cliff remarried in 2001 to Lorreen Hubbert. They made their home in Peterborough until Lorreen’s passing in 2010.
Cliff was an avid automobile enthusiast and, over his lifetime, owned more than 100 vehicles. His first car, a 1929 Chevrolet, was purchased at age 16. Over the years, he enjoyed a good game of euchre, snowmobiling, and, in his later years, cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays.
Cliff will be remembered for his strong work ethic and lifelong enthusiasm for automobiles. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, commitment, and deep devotion to those he loved.
In keeping with Cliff’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal service. A private interment of his ashes will take place at Ompah Cemetery in the summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Clifford’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
