In Loving Memory of Hugh McLellan Corbett
August 31, 1942 – July 10, 2026
Hugh was predeceased by his wife of 61 years., Elsie Corbett, also by his daughter, Cathy, and his parents Hugh and Margaret Corbett. He is survived by his son Brian.
Hugh was born in Scotland, but came to Canada at the age of 18 for new opportunities. He found a career at Stelco, where he liked sales and working with people. He was liked by his coworkers and customers. People liked him for his balance of being driven.
Many men have rich lives outside their career, and Hugh was a loving husband and father. He loved his golf. Before he got sick, he got a hole in one. He won a table tennis tournament on his honeymoon cruise. Hugh liked to paint, garden and enjoy sports, especially hockey, which was new to him.
Hugh was a “Proud Canadian”. He studied and took seriously becoming a Canadian Citizen.
Hugh was active in his church as a Lecturer, and lived a dedicated Christian life.
Hugh loved sharing times with friends and family. He loved to entertain with Elsie at Easter, which became a tradition.
Hugh will be missed dearly by the many lives he touched by his smile, sense of humour and kindness toward others.
Hugh’s wished to be cremated, and a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
No longer suffering, but is in the Kingdom….

Hugh, may you rest in peace
I remember the great games of golf and Ping pong we had over the years. Our recent trip down memory lane brought both of us some good laughs remembering our car pool days. So many good memories of a wonderful man. You gave so much to so many. May God bless you and welcome you home.

I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of Hugh. He was such a nice man, we had some great talks when I used to cut his hair.
Blessings,
