ERIC WILLIAM GREASON

September 30, 1958 – July 5, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eric William Greason. He passed away peacefully at the age of 63 on July 5, 2022 at the Trillium Hospital in Mississauga. He was an amazing person who touched the hearts of many. Eric was born in Toronto, ON and grew up in Etobicoke, ON. He had a successful career in sales primarily in the plastics sector.

Eric was the beloved husband of Jewel, son of the late William Henry and his widow Dorothy, brother to Michael, Ian; brother in law to Wendy and uncle of Evan.

Eric’s passion was hiking which he enjoyed tremendously.  His two favourite parts of the Bruce Trail were Smokey Hollow and Mono Mills.  When he was unable to hike he walked in parks and on trails around the area where he lived. Another favourite trail that he frequented was the Riverwood/Erindale trail beside the Credit River.  Eric had an eagerness to acquire knowledge about plastics and cars and he would read every bit of information on these two topics.

Eric is survived by his spouse Jewel; mother, Dorothy Greason; brothers Michael, Ian and his wife Wendy; his nephew Evan and a large extended family. The memorial service will be held in the Magnolia Room at St. John’s Dixie Cemetery at 737 Dundas Street East, Mississauga, ON L4Y 2B5 on Wednesday July 13, 2022 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon.

Such a fond childhood memory. We moved back to England in late 1970S. It was great shock to hear through Dorothy, Eric’s passing, taken too soon. Dear Jewel, I’m still trying to process the incredibly stunning news about Eric. We were in contact with each other just two days before his passing. He was so excited about your upcoming holiday in B.C. and I was looking forward to seeing you both again.

Eric was a true friend. I always enjoyed his company when we worked together and I appreciated the many phone calls he made to me in the years after my retirement from Dempsey Corporation. Our conversations were filled with laughs, even when life threw a few curveballs Eric’s way. I’ll always be grateful that it was Eric who directed me to Dempsey when I needed a job in 2003. I owed him a lot.

Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss.

    Dennis

    Dear Jewel and family
Please accept my condolences on the passing of Eric. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. I’m proud to say that I enjoyed Eric’s company and friendship as colleagues at Dempsey for many years. Eric had a wonderful, sunny disposition at work and was passionate in his sales career. A professional through and through. I recall going out together for many a meal at his favorite lunch spots when he was at Dempsey’s. Close to noontime on any given day, he’d call down the hallway from his desk to mine…’Carpenter, let’s go for lunch’. He was the only person that referred to me by my last name only. That’s how I got to know and truly appreciate Eric. I vividly recall a joint adventure with Eric years ago when a group of us helicoptered into a remote ski lodge in the Rocky Mountains for some incredible skiing. Great, lasting memories of Eric! He will certainly be missed by all those who knew him.

I am so sorry to hear of the heartbreaking and sudden loss of your beloved Eric. While I only had the pleasure of meeting Eric just recently, I have known you for many years now and it was so clear from the beginning of your relationship, just how special and perfect Eric was your heart. I can’t imagine the pain you and Eric’s family are feeling now. May you find comfort in each other and feel Eric’s presence in the sway of the grass and rustle of the leaves on the hardest days.
Sending you hugs and love, Robin

I had the pleasure of knowing Eric for only a few short years, travelling with him through work. I always enjoyed trips to Toronto thanks to Eric and his irrepressible positive outlook. Life threw many a bump onto his road, but he was always able to take the ‘slings and arrows’ and look on the bright side. He will will be missed and forever remembered.
