Eduardo Bellisario
October 7, 1938 – April 21, 2026
Eduardo Bellisario passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026, in Milton, Ontario, at the age of 87. Eduardo leaves his three daughters, Lisa, Lianne (Michael Holmes), and Angela, his granddaughter Cameron, grandsons Douglas and William and his brother Giovanni of New York and many nieces and nephews. Eduardo was predeceased in Canada by his beloved brother Emilio, and in Italy by his cherished sister Lidia and brother Antonio, and followed by his brother Nicola. Born in Treglio, Italy, to parents Giuseppe Bellisario and Rosa Veri, at 18 years of age he joined his brothers and immigrated to Canada, where he lived out his life, becoming a citizen, marrying, raising three beautiful daughters, and becoming a grandparent, all while perfecting his craft as a barber for over 60 years in Etobicoke.
Through his sustained and energetic work ethic, styling hair to the age of 80, he connected closely with thousands of loyal and highly satisfied customers. Ed’s Barbershop was a mainstay local business in Etobicoke, with Ed making the daily commute from the family home in Streetsville to provide many long hours and days of service. His dedication and skills ensured multiple generations of repeat customers from across Toronto, who were charmed by his easy and quick smile and his respectful and diplomatic exchanges while they sat in his chair. His customers knew they were in skilled hands and would leave feeling refreshed, happy and satisfied. His ease with people, his bright blue eyes and his youthful good looks made him a popular and successful local business-man.
Through the bounty of his hard work, Ed showed how deeply he cared for providing all that he could for his daughters who, in their own rights, each went on to achieve advanced educations and to be successful contributors to their families, chosen professions and communities – a true testament to Ed’s Canadian legacy. His attachment to his Italian roots remained throughout his life, however. His love of fresh fruits and vegetables, Abruzzese olive oil and rustic Italian wine, pasta and good wholesome food were symbols of his lasting connection to Italian culture and cuisine. The joy of gardening and growing and preparing tomatoes and peppers with authentic Italian style were daily passions and annual rituals throughout his life. The symbol of food as love was imparted strongly on his family, who continue these traditions in his honour.
Upon his retirement, Ed moved to the Credit River Retirement home, where he lived out his remaining years with ease, endearing himself to the staff through his good humour and charm. He was content with what he accomplished, knowing that he had toiled diligently throughout his life, provided all the support he could to his daughters, and lived to see their successes and well-being secured in life. He will be deeply missed. A private burial will take place in Ottawa.
