Ed Furtak
1932-2026
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Ed Furtak announces his peaceful passing at Joseph Brant Hospital, on August 14, 2026.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Shirley, and their blended family, who will forever cherish the many memories they shared with him.
Ed was a devoted husband and father who found his greatest joy in being surrounded by his family. He was a caring, gentle, and giving man who took great pride in the people he loved and treasured the time they spent together.
Outside of his family, Ed had a deep love and appreciation for the animal world. He especially enjoyed caring for a variety of birds, taking great pleasure in their companionship and well-being. He also spent countless hours tending to his freshwater and saltwater aquariums, creating and maintaining beautiful underwater worlds that reflected his patience, dedication, and love of nature.
In keeping with Ed’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Tranquility Burial & Cremation Services (Niagara) Inc. A private graveside service was held, and Ed was laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Burlington, ON. Condolences can be shared at tranquilitycremation.com
Ed will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
