Duggan, Ellen

It is with great sadness that the family of Ellen Duggan of Cambridge, Ontario announce
her peaceful passing in the early hours of March 3, 2025 at home, surrounded by loving
family.
Ellen is survived by her beloved John (husband of 64 years) and by her children,
Michael (Stacey), Tina (Bill), Christopher (Nina), sister Christine and brother Fritz
(Vienna, Austria). She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Aaron, Victoria,
Georgia, Marley and Liam.
Ellen was born on January 14, 1940 to Heinrich and Christine Rubig in Vienna, Austria.
After coming to Canada in 1959, Ellen and John settled in London, Ontario.
After a period living in Mississauga, the family moved to Cambridge, Ontario in 1973.
Ellen was a long-time member of the Cambridge Hiking Herd, a board member of Third
Age Learning, and the Stephen Lewis Foundation (Afri-nanas). She was an avid hiker,
skier and tennis player and loved the outdoors. She also enjoyed her weekly online
bridge game.
A celebration of Ellen’s life will be held at a later date, the details of which will be
provided on www.tranquilitycremation.com
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cambridge Memorial
Hospital, and to the Grand River Cancer Centre in Kitchener, to whom the family is
deeply grateful.
Special thanks go to the oncology team and the nurses and staff who cared for Ellen.

I am saddened to hear of your loss. Ellen was such a dear friend to our mom. I remember her as being so active, kind and a good sense of humour. She loved all the things our mom did – bridge, hiking, book club, tennis, any and all opportunities to socialize. My heart goes out to you all. Sarah Robertson xox
