Dennis Wayne Bredahl – 80, Hamilton Ontario, April 17, 2026
Born on December 21, 1945, in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan to Anders and Thora.
A man of intellect, adventure, and resilience, Dennis led a life that spanned continents and was anchored by deep personal connections.
After graduating from high school in Shaunavon, Dennis attended the University of Saskatchewan, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering followed by a Masters in Mechanical Engineering. In 1970, he began a distinguished 40-year career with Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL). His attention to detail, hard work and expertise took him across the globe, with significant assignments in Chalk River, South Korea, Taiwan, and Argentina.
In 1976, following his marriage to the late Charlene Eby, he welcomed his son Mark into his life. From there they moved to Argentina, where his sons Anders and Loren were born. After returning to Canada and settling in Acton, Ontario, the family welcomed his youngest son, Lars. In 1994 his work had him back in his home province of Saskatchewan for several years working in Saskatoon. Later in his career, Dennis returned to Argentina for a subsequent contract, a period that was eventually cut short by his first battle with cancer in early 2002.
After returning to Canada and settling in Hamilton, Dennis found a new beginning when he met and married his love, Luz Elena Arias López. Together, they shared a life full of travel and joy, cherishing their time as constant companions. When his cancer returned in late 2025, Elena remained a steadfast presence at his side. Her unwavering love and companionship during his final months provided him with immense comfort and peace.
Dennis was the brother of the late Dagny (Stan), Arve, Maurice (Laura), Lillian, and Gordon(Sheila). He is survived by his beloved wife, Luz Elena, and his four sons: Mark (Jessica), Anders (Kari), Loren (Heidi), and Lars (Laura) who combined gave him 10 grandchildren. His love extended to his 4 stepchildren and 4 step grandchildren. All of which made him so very proud. He leaves behind a legacy of professional achievement and a family who will remember his strength and the miles he traveled.
No formal service will be performed, a tree will be planted in his honour near his home in Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hamilton Health Sciences – McMaster.
