It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Crawford on July 26, 2026, at the age of 90. Beloved husband of the late Maureen (née Collins) (1938-1991). Cherished father to Elaine Crawford, Geoffrey Crawford and Heather Thomson (née Crawford). He will be sadly missed by his 5 grandchildren; Alex Crawford, Bronwyn Crawford, Rowan Crawford, Nikki Thomson, and Taylor Thomson, as well as his dear brother, Jim Crawford. Predeceased by his longtime partner Katie Hubley (2015).
George Crawford was born in Belfast, N. Ireland on October 12, 1935, and immigrated to Toronto, ON, in 1958. George was soon joined by Maureen Collins and married on July 4, 1959. George worked for GM Canada for many years as a pattern maker. In his spare time, he enjoyed attending auctions and yard sales looking for tools and furniture to restore.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the caring staff at Henley House Nursing Facility for the exceptional compassion and kindness shown to George during the last five years of his life.
Keeping with George’s wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will take place on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 3:00-6:00 p.m., at the Holiday Inn, 327 Ontario Street, St. Catharines, ON. The family will lay George to rest alongside his wife, Maureen, on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.Arrangements have been entrusted to Tranquility Burial & Cremation Services (Niagara) Inc. George will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
