Cheryl Horvath
1959-2026
It is with great sorrow that we announce that Cheryl Ann Christine Horvath of St. Catharines, passed away on September 5, 2026, after a long and heroic battle with multiple cancers.
Cheryl is survived by her loving son, Corey; her sister, Debbie; nephew, Taylor; her uncles and aunts, Ron and Fran Horvath, George Horvath, & John and Doreen Horvath; numerous cousins; and her special friends, Chantal and Linda. She is predeceased by her mother Shirley, and her grandmother Pauline who will comfort her in the next life.
Born on January 21, 1959, Cheryl led a wonderful life. She was the first girl in her high school to take shop class during a time when the girls did home economics and boys did shop. She was told “no” but she fought and won the right to take shop. That determination followed her throughout the rest of her life. She worked for many years in the manufacturing sector as an Environmental Health and Safety officer. However, her true passions were her family, friends, animals and art. She was diagnosed with Lupus in her 30’s but did not let that slow her down.
A natural artist, Cheryl was gifted in painting, ceramics, as well as an accomplished potter. She had a great sense of humor and was known by many as a strong independent woman with an indomitable spirit. She will be remembered by those that knew her for her strength, compassion, humor and stoicism. Throughout these last years, in spite of her health issues, she remained positive. She didn’t complain, cry, or lose hope. Even in the end her will to live remained strong, but her poor body was tired. She has gone now to a pain free place.
