Celani, Maurizio

It is with great sadness that the family of Maurizio “Mertz” Celani announce his sudden passing on June 16, 2021, at the age of 58 years.

Maurizio will be lovingly remembered by his partner Dianne Plater and family. He is predeceased by his father Nello and brother Marco, he leaves behind a family in mourning; mother Elsa, sisters Luciana (Rocco) Elia, Roberta (Aldo) Bracaglia, Maria Assunta (Mario) Morgillo, brother Angelo Celani and sister in law Irene Celani.

He was the most amazing uncle to Vincenzo (Eleanora, Mia, MJ, Michaela) Morgillo, Stefano (Dianne) Catinella, Rita (Kennet, Cassidy, Kieran) Andersson, Grace (Christopher) Catinella, Elsa (Nigel Johnson, Brandon, Erikka, Tristan, Darius) Morgillo, Domenic (Ana, Nicholas, Emma) Elia, Michael, Alec, and Leah Celani. He also leaves behind his loving brothers and family from the Brotherhood MC.

We are all grieving his unexpected passing but are left behind with some wonderful memories of his adventures with the Brotherhood MC and 7am rumbles of his Harley as he prepared for his next ride. For as long as we remember his first love was his motorcycle until he met Dianne. Maurizio loved to fix cars, motorcycles, and anything that has a motor. He was the jack of all trades who would drop everything to lend a helping hand. He was a hard worker and a family man.

His passions varied from watching “Do It Yourself” shows and implementing them, he was an avid movie lover but would always say “don’t watch it They always die at the end ” He was a wonderful, caring, loving man with a great sense of humor with a unique and infectious laugh. That was the essence of Maurizio.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 22nd, 2021 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at St. John’s Dixie Cemetery and Crematorium, 737 Dundas Street East, Mississauga, Ontario.

My condolences to Meritz’s family and friends. I hadn’t spoken to Meritz in the last 5 or 6 but I still remember our adventures and misadventures when we were younger and both lived on Prescott Ave in Toronto. We built go karts together, fixed bicycles and a group of us would go riding. We’d all hang out on the street until the streetlights came on or until Meritz got that distinguishing whistle from the veranda of his house by his parents. 🙂 We even went down to the ministry together to get our “365” (driver’s license permit) and also attended the same high school for few years. He was a good guy with a good heart and will be missed. R.I.P.
