Byrne, Marilyn

Beloved wife, mother, aunt, sister and best friend, Marilyn’s life did not end with her death and reflects in the lives of those she loves. After a long and hard fought battle with cancer, Marilyn passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her immediate family on Sunday July 18, 2021 at the young age of 67. She leaves behind husband Paul, loving sons Aaron and Daniel, her brother Ken Galuska, sister Angela Mitchell, and is predeceased by her parents Stanley and Norah Galuska. In addition, her beloved nieces and nephews, Heather Pruder, Shawn Bilton, Yvette Byrne-Menard, and Shane Byrne who showed her much love and care throughout the years. Marilyn had a strong network of close friends that enriched her life. She had a rewarding career at SC Johnson and Sons where many of those lifelong friendships were made. Upon retirement, she continued to befriend others everywhere she went: throughout her global travels and in the community at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre. Marilyn’s passion for baking and cooking procured delicious and memorable feasts year round. Her genuine eagerness to explore cultures and the world resulted in the greatest vacations one could hope for. Marilyn’s family will continue to honour her legacy by living life to the fullest with the same generosity and integrity she modeled.

As per Marilyn’s wishes there will be no funeral service, but a celebration of life to follow at a later date this year. Her family requests that any donations in Marilyn’s name are to be made to The Stedman Community Hospice in Brantford or the Juravinski Cancer Centre in Hamilton.
