In Loving Memory of Bonnie Nicholls
January 6, 1947 — April 29, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce that Bonnie passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, after a brave battle.
Born in Owen Sound, Bonnie eventually moved to Hamilton and then to Kingston, where she spent many years raising her family with fierce devotion, before returning to Hamilton to be with her siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews. Throughout her life, Bonnie was known for her indomitable spirit. She knew how to fight for what she believed in, and above all else, she believed in the power of loving her family.
Bonnie famously joked that she only had a kitchen because it came with the house, much preferring the ease of takeout. Yet, when it mattered most, she possessed a remarkable talent for creating big, beautiful meals and incredible celebrations like Christmas. To her family, Bonnie was Christmas; she was the heart of every wonderful holiday, turning simple gatherings into magical, lasting memories.
She was an incredible, present, and joyful grandmother. Her grandchildren—Christopher, Tri, and Cai—will forever cherish the memories of “Grandma Camp” late night conversations about life, and their special breakfast traditions at Cora’s. Bonnie loved fiercely and would do anything for another in need. Her passing leaves a hole that will never be filled, but everyone who knew her was left with the lasting gift of her strength, her humour, and her love. She was truly the anchor of our family, always with an open ear to anyone in need and boy, did we need her!
Bonnie is lovingly remembered by her children, Virginia (John) and Brent (Liz); her cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Tri, and Cai. She is also deeply missed by her brother, Paul (Brenda), her sister and other half, Debbie (Tim), and her sister-in-law, Elaine Nicholls as well as her many relatives and friends throughout Owen Sound and Hamilton. She has gone to join those who passed before her: her mother, Marie Nicholls, her brother, Ron Nicholls, and her partner, Bruce Donais. They are, no doubt, embracing her once again.
Celebration of Life will be on May 22nd in Hamilton, Ontario.
Details to follow.

My mom was the best mom a girl could ever want to have in her life. She was my best friend and I will miss calling her every single time. I’m in the car. She would always ask where I was going and it was usually Costco. And then we were just talk. Talk about whether or talk about the kids talk about everything how I find myself talking out loud and hoping that she still hears me. I love you mom and I will always miss you. 💔

Whenever we saw Bonnie, she was a funny, happy, easygoing and a lot of fun to be around. She was a great person and a friend to everyone, always warm and welcome.
She will be missed here on earth but we all know she is resting in heaven now, surrounded by her loved ones and visiting friends and family, enjoying a lovely heavenly meal filled with great conversations and laughter.
There will never be an empty seat at our table because we know she will always be with us in spirit and our hearts. God bless her on her journey home. Sending hugs and prayers out to all of you. Susan and Larry

I met Bonnie in Owen Sound when we were about nine or ten. We went all through school together. We got in trouble together. I loved her as only you can love a best friend. She was my maid-of-honour and I was hers. We didn’t see each other often after she moved to Hamilton but we certainly kept in touch. I am going to miss our chats on the internet. But mostly, I will miss her.
