Austin Gatfalvi
beloved son and brother, passed away on August 7, 2026, at age 20.
Austin was born in Hamilton to his loving parents, Erzsebet and Laszlo, where he lived until the age of 8. During his early years, he attended G.L. Armstrong Elementary School, where he made fond memories, and spent precious time with his wonderful home daycare provider, Maggie. He loved Maggie and her son, Ryder; they grew close and became lifelong friends.
Following the birth of his brother, Noah, the family moved to Brantford, where Austin continued his education at Walter Gretzky Elementary School and later attended Brantford Collegiate Institute (BCI). Austin was smart, funny, and possessed a quiet kindness that touched those around him. A true gamer at heart, he played consistently and even streamed a bit; his spirits lifted when he played, filling the room with his free laughter. He was also a car lover and an artist. He adored cars, especially missing his father’s Mercedes when it was sold, and hoped to become a mechanic and own his own vehicle one day. As a musician, his artistic talent shone through both the guitar and the piano, filling the air with music that could be heard and enjoyed by the neighbours. All through these beautiful moments, Austin fought his personal demons with courage and resilience that was only known to those who were close to him. He never gave up the fight and believed he would win.
He is deeply missed by his parents, Erzsebet and Laszlo; his younger brother, Noah (12); his brother from another mother, Sean, his childhood friend, Ryder; his chosen (cousins) Aiden, Erica, Bella, and Syd; his close friends Gavin and Kaiden; and his online friend Michael, whom Austin was eagerly planning to visit at the end of August. He will also be missed by his chosen aunts and uncles, his extended family oversees and all the people who were lucky enough to meet him and get to know him.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at
the Pine Grove; Howell Community Centre, 492 County Road 11, Brantford, ON N3T 5M1.
We will share memories, pictures, and stories to honor Austin’s life and the love he brought into the world and into our lives
