It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Ashley Dawn McMann, who left this world on April 17, 2026. Born on July 20, 1984, in Brantford, Ontario, Ashley graced us all with 41 years of light, love, and laughter that will forever illuminate our lives.
Ashley was a beacon of compassion and joy, known for her boundless generosity and the rare ability to bring laughter and comfort without effort. Her heart, unparalleled in its warmth and kindness, was a sanctuary for many. She was the kind of person who would gladly give the shirt off her back, driven by an unwavering desire to help those around her. Her laughter was infectious, her smile a balm to the weary, and her spirit an unyielding force of nature that touched everyone she met.
A gifted poet and writer, Ashley found solace and expression in the written word. Her love for poetry was a reflection of her soul’s depth, capturing the beauty and complexity of the world around her. Her writings were not just words on a page, but a testament to her perceptive understanding and profound appreciation of life’s myriad experiences.
Ashley was predeceased by her father, Elmer McMann, and her brother, Cody McMann. She is survived by her devoted mother, Roxanne, and loving stepfather, David, who cherished her dearly. Her daughter, Oceanah McMann, and grandson, Cashez, were the lights of her life, bringing her immense joy and pride. Her spirit lives on in her siblings, Monica (Marloth), Melissa (Terrance), Shane, Jasmin (Jordan), and Danielle (Mike), Nakeisha, and Atheltstan along with her many nieces and nephews who adored their aunt with all their hearts.
Ashley’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and an indomitable spirit. Her family and friends will forever remember her as a pillar of strength and a source of endless inspiration. Her memory will be cherished, her absence deeply felt, and her life celebrated by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
In this time of sorrow, we find solace in the memories we shared and the love that will forever bind us. As her family, we wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their condolences and support. Ashley will remain forever in our hearts, a guiding light in our darkest hours.
A private family service will be held to honor Ashley’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Ashley’s memory, reflecting her selfless spirit and enduring legacy of compassion.

“I’m still trying to process the loss of my dear friend, Ashley. She was truly one of a kind—a loyal, sweet, and honest person who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind or say what most people didn’t have the guts to say. I am going to miss her laugh so much, and all the fun times we had. She was so selfless; even when she had nothing, she would give the shirt off her back to help me whenever I needed it, and whenever I needed a friend to talk to, she would always be there to listen and give the best advice. I could trust Ashley with my deepest secrets and know she’d never tell a soul. She reminded me so much of a big sister. I missed out on that when my younger sister passed away, and it’s hit me pretty hard to lose her so suddenly like this. I’m forever grateful for the friendship we shared and our bond over our dogs. Bella will always be a cherished reminder of her. My heart and prayers go out to her family; I’ve been thinking of you all constantly since hearing the news. Ashley was so much fun, and I’m going to miss her —our talks, the laughs, and all the ridiculous things we used to get into together. I’m just devastated that she’s gone. You were an incredible friend, taken far too soon. Fly high with the angels, and keep telling it like it is on the other side, until we meet again for some more laughs. rest easy babe.
