Anne Marie Dickerson
Anne Marie Dickerson, (n. Hutson) age 82, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026 after a courageous battle with colon cancer. She was surrounded by the love of her family at the Stedman Community Hospice in Brantford, Ontario, a place that held special meaning to her through both her volunteer service and the compassionate care both she and her son Brent received.
Born on June 26, 1943, in Ingersoll, Anne was the beloved daughter of George and Reta Hutson. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Bernard (“Bernie”) Dickerson; her cherished youngest son, Brent Dickerson; her parents, George and Reta Hutson; her brothers, Gerald and Dennis Hutson; and her sisters, Mary White and Verna Harris: brothers-in-law James White, Wray Frizelle and Gary Harris.
Anne leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure her memory: her daughter, April McCulloch and husband Shayne; her son, Bradley Dickerson and wife Liz; her sister, Elaine Frizelle: and her brothers, Ken (Joyce) and George (Jeannie) Hutson.
She was a proud and devoted Nana to Benjamin (Julia), Tyler (Ange), Hilary (Andrew), Holly, Kayla (Phil), and Hanna. Anne was also blessed with three beloved great-grandchildren, Addelyn, Ruby, and Ares, who brought her immense joy and pride.
Anne dedicated her professional life to caring for others through a long and fulfilling career as a Registered Nurse. She retired in 2001 from Brantford General Hospital, where she touched countless lives through her compassion, skill, and dedication. Retirement did not diminish her commitment to helping others. She continued to give back to her community through volunteer service at both Stedman Community Hospice and Brantford General Hospital, sharing the same kindness and generosity that defined her nursing career.
An avid reader, Anne possessed a voracious appetite for books and took great pleasure in sharing her latest recommendations with family and friends. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—taking long walks, tending her garden, riding her bicycle, and spending time outdoors with a good book and her beverage of choice.
Above all else, Anne’s greatest joy was her family. She was admired for her loving and caring nature, her willingness to listen without judgment, and her remarkable ability to offer wisdom, comfort, and perspective. Whether as a mother, Nana, sister, friend, nurse, or volunteer, Anne was a steady and reassuring presence in the lives of those who knew her. She had a gift for making people feel heard, valued, and loved.
Her legacy is one of compassion, strength, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family and community. She leaves behind a lifetime of treasured memories and a profound example of how to live with grace, kindness, and purpose.
Anne will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
“To live in the hearts of those we love is never to die.” — Thomas Campbell
