Alvaro Gomez Jr

March 7th 1937 – April 18th 2026

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

– Romans 8:38-39

Our hearts are heavy with the passing on of Alvaro Gomez Jr. On the other hand, we know where he is going and that is a reason for joy. He is absent from his body and at home with Our Lord Almighty. He passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026 at Mississauga, Canada, surrounded by his loving family and close friends.

Born in Negros Occidental, Philippines, Alvaro aka Bendon/Al, was the eldest of two brothers. He completed his B.S. in Chemistry at the Adamson University. He was married to Iris Rosalie Gomez and had two children, Alvaro aka Alvin Gomez, III and Ivy Rosalie Gomez. He migrated to Canada on May 2016 to be with his children.

The family would be forever grateful for the legacy of Christian faith he has imparted that is considered the most valuable gift. He served the Lord in various capacity as an elder, deacon and officer of Fellowship Baptist Church and held leadership positions at the affiliate school, Fellowship Baptist College. He taught the Men’s Sunday School for years. He has served as Chaplain and held other positions with Gideons International. He travelled to various places including remote areas for Bible distribution, preaching and evangelism.

Alvaro loved studying God’s word and sharing its valuable insights. He also enjoyed reading fictional books especially anything related to crime investigation, courtroom drama or warfare. He liked taking walks in the parks and nature trails. He had a healthy appetite and can easily be delighted with delicious food. He was much remembered for his beaming smile, calm and positive demeanor.

He will be missed and forever remain in the hearts of his family and dear friends.

Survived by:

His children Alvin & Jopen and Ivy

Grandchildren Iris Renee & Edrian Roy and Andrei Jacob

Great grandchildren Caiden Keith and baby girl (along the way)

And a circle of cherished family and friends
