William Arthur Middleton, P.Eng.:

It is with sadness that the family announces the death of Bill Middleton at Emmanuel House Hospice in Hamilton on August 4, 2011 in his 93rd year.  A long time resident of Ancaster, Bill was born in Toronto in 1919, and proudly served during WWII in the RCAF.  After the War he pursued mechanical engineering studies at the University of Toronto and McMaster University.  In his early career he was especially proud of his work on the team that developed the famous Avro Arrow.  A much respected and active member the APEO, his professional life engaged him in the design and construction of much of Canada’s steel industry, and took him on various assignments around the world.  A lover of Big Band music, Bill was an active band leader, music arranger and pianist all his life, and was active until shortly before his death. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Sheilagh (Attfield), daughter Beth and sons James, Robert and Bill.  A memorial celebration of a long and full life will be held for family and friends at a later date.  If desired, donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Emmanuel House Hospice, 90 Stinson St. S., Hamilton.
