TUTT, Peter McIntosh
TUTT, Peter McIntosh – 1927-2017 Peacefully passed on Sunday, February 12 in his 91st year at the BGH, after deciding to cease his 8 year regime of dialysis treatment. Beloved husband and best friend of the late Barbara Ann Tutt (nee Northover). Predeceased by parents J McIntosh Tutt & Floss Tutt. Loving father to his 3 children and their families. Michael Tutt of Brantford, John (& Wendy) of Waterloo, Susan (& Jonathan Walsh) of Brantford. Brother to David (& Beulah) Tutt of Calgary. Loving Grandfather of Emily, Andrew, Jacob, Evan, and Spencer. Peter’s mind remained sharp to the end, evidenced by shared stories & keen observations of bygone days in Brantford area & Port Dover. At age 17 in 1944 Peter enlisted in the Dufferin & Haldimand Rifles (reserves) where he was trained to drive a Bren Gun carrier. At age 18 Peter enlisted in the Canadian Army and served in the Number 1 Pacific Infantry Training Battalion. At age 21 he enthusiastically enlisted in the RCAF where he joined an Aircrew as a Radio Officer. Exciting years were spent travelling the world in 435 & 425 RCAF Transport Squadron. Participated in the Korean Airlift 1950-1952 as a navigator in DC-4s in 426 Squadron. Later employed as an air traffic controller at Malton airport. Main career was spent working for the Department of National Revenue for 23 years. Upon retirement Peter began a second career as Manager of the Terrace Hill Medical Centre. It wasn’t until he was 72 that he finally decided to ‘officially retire’. Volunteered as Treasurer of the Brantford Church Hockey and Echo Place United Church during his days raising a family. Fondest memories took place in Long Point, Ontario, at the cottage with Barbara. Another favourite beach destination was Estero Island in Florida. Many thanks to the professional Dialysis Nurses at Brantford General who cared for Peter from 2008-2017. Cremation has taken place. A private family service and interment will follow. Dad held Lansdowne Children’s Centre close to his heart. Donate in his memory at www.lansdownecentre.ca
