Tatar, Edward –
Edward Tatar, born June 11, 1920 passed away July 22,2016 in his 97th year after a full and interesting life.
Born in Poland he survived World War 2 by being adaptable.
After the war he set up Y.M.C.A’s in Germany with Gym equipment and musical instruments donated by British Rotary Clubs.
He met the love of his life , Elisabeth, his wife of 62 years in her home town in Germany.
By mutual decision they began their adventure in married life in Canada.
They enjoyed nature and explored Ontario extensively together.
Their first child Barbara was born while living in Sudbury. When their second child Peter was born, Toronto was their home.
His love of family was strengthened with the addition of his son-in-law Steve, and daughter-in-law Donna.
He was Grandpa to Adam, Stephanie, Jennifer (Lawrence), Shiloh, Mika and Jordan(Tatar) who flourished with the love and attention he dedicated to them.
Ed never looked his age and worked until he was 80.
He was a gentle man who loved animals, and they loved him. His family referred to him as an animal whisperer.
He was full of wit, charm and grace.
Ed spoke numerous languages and was always ready to use that ability to put others at ease.
He had a deep love of music, literature , television and was always ready for a challenging game of Euchre.
As for his love of food, the German term that describes him is a “fein schmecker”.
Driving big powerful cars was a lifelong passion.
His one real vice was smoking.
A celebration of life will be planned at his favourite place on Earth, Bass Bay.
We love and miss you, Edi, Dad, Grandpa.
