Stevenson, Joseph Robert

March 20, 2026 | 5 Condolences

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph “Joe” Stevenson on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, just shy of his 86th birthday. He passed peacefully, surrounded by close family and friends. He will be deeply missed by his loving life partner of 43 years, Anna. Cherished father of Scott (Liz), Todd (Vickie), and Ann (Mike). Proud grandfather of Rachel (Laken), Matthew (Maddy), Fred, and Sam. He is survived by his sibling Fran (Jim), and his in-laws Rick (Lisa) and Dave (Cheryl). He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Lisa (Olaf), Rob (Diana), Mike (Claire), Renee (Kevin), Mirko, Danica, and Nick, as well as many extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Dave (Norma), his beloved fur companion Lucy, his dear friend Gaye, and many others who held a special place in his life.

He will be remembered most for the way he brought people together — never with much fuss, just good food, a drink in hand, and music playing somewhere in the background. He loved the simple, perfect moments in life: long weekends at the cottage filled with laughter, competitive games of euchre and darts, and days out on the boat tubing and skiing. Evenings were for fires, stories, and the kind of easy company that made everyone feel at home. If there was a barbecue, he was at the helm — a true BBQ master who took pride in feeding the people he cared about. He had a deep love for sports, especially cheering on the Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays, and he had a true passion for playing and coaching hockey and lacrosse. Music was always part of his world, with Neil Diamond often setting the tone for a good night. He appreciated life’s small pleasures — fresh lobster, banana bread, homemade cookies (especially chocolate chip cookies)  — best enjoyed surrounded by family and friends. He was also a great lover of animals, with a special place in his heart for his beloved dog, Lucy, who was a constant companion and source of joy. A graduate of Ryerson University as an electrical engineer, he built a successful career and went on to become a proud business owner of Nordtech. His work ethic, determination, and integrity were evident in everything he did. He also had a love for travel, exploring across Europe and North America, always returning with stories and a deep appreciation for the people and places he encountered. More than anything, he will be remembered for his warmth, his generosity, and the way he made life feel full — full of laughter, good conversation, and meaningful connection.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the compassionate staff at Marotta Family Hospital for their care and support, especially the oncology department and the staff on ward 3B. A heartfelt thank you to Gail and Paul — Joe and Anna’s best friends — for their unwavering love and support. We appreciate everything you have done and continue to do.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson Canada, Canadian Cancer Society, or your local Humane Society in his memory. In keeping with his spirit, those who knew him are encouraged to gather, share a meal, play a game, and raise a glass in his memory. Arrangements have been entrusted to Tranquility Burial & Cremation Services (Niagara) Inc. Condolences can be shared at tranquility-cremation.local/

We feel so lucky to have so many memories of Uncle Joe. So many summers at the cottage. I can still hear his laugh out of the open windows from the old Pines cottage. The big boat and so much water skiing! His patience and calm always unwavering. We are thinking of all of you and I will hold these memories close to my heart. Love to you all xoxo Julie and Andrew
