Stanko, Joseph

At the age of 91, Joseph Stanko passed peacefully in his sleep at home on May 14, 2025. Joe leaves behind his wife, Chris Stanko (Bylsma) of 38 years. He was the extremely proud father of John Stanko (Cayley) and Julia Domonkos (Shane). His legacy will live on in his grandchildren; Adeline, Veronica, Beckett, Everly, and Colton. Joe spent his formative years being raised in Hamilton, and then on a farm near Sheffield, ON. His parents had immigrated to Canada from Slovakia and raised him with a strong sense of appreciation for their home culture. He remained at home and worked as a TV technician, but his real joy was in music. He was a talented accordion player, as well as guitarist. Following the loss of his parents, Joe decided to start a family of his own. He proposed marriage to his friend, Chris Bylsma, and the two soon welcomed their son, John and not long after Julia joined the family. Joe was beyond proud and content to live the simple life and continue with family traditions on the farm. Joe considered his family his greatest accomplishment of his life. He will be deeply missed. Arrangements are being made by Tranquility Burial and Cremation Services. A celebration of life will be held at the Stanko farm July 12, 2025 anytime after 3 pm.
