August 20, 2013 | 1 Condolence

Socha2Judy passed away on Monday, August 12th at the age of 59 after a valiant two year battle with brain cancer. The beloved wife of Robert Floyd, daughter of Jane and Matthew Socha, sister of Peter and Ginger, loving aunt of Brolyn, Rhianon and Jason and loving friend to so many. Judy was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Valley Forge Pennsylvania. As a young woman, she moved to Toronto and continued her career in the insurance industry. She married Bob on July 16th 1988. Her curiosity and analytical abilities led her to the computer industry, where she worked in sales and marketing for many years. She later partnered with Bob to form BirchLeaf Investments, where she was instrumental in the marketing and administration of the firm. She had a zest for life and always stressed the happier side. Her passions were gardening, building, researching, shopping, family and friends. Her eyes sparkled with enthusiasm as she embarked on her next quest, whether it was building bookshelves or adding to a new part of the garden. Judy was a dedicated and passionate volunteer. Over the years, Judy had an extremely active involvement with Canada Blooms, the CNE Garden Show and the Southern Ontario Orchid Society, where she developed the marketing campaign for the annual orchid show. She was also a former board member of the Toronto Botanical Garden. She will be eternally missed. A Service of Thanksgiving and Celebration of Life will be held at Christ Church, 1700 Mazo Crescent, Mississauga Ontario on Saturday, August 24th 2013 at 2:00 PM . For those wishing to make donations, they can be made to the Gerry and Nancy Pencer Brain Trust.
