Rudolf (Rudy) Schneider
September 16, 1936 – March 16, 2025

With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our Opa, Rudolf
(Rudy) Schneider on March 16, 2025, at the age of 88. Rudy passed away surrounded
by the love of his family and dear friends in his final days.

Born in Kirchham, Austria, on September 16, 1936, Rudy was the youngest of five
brothers and a sister. His family later moved to Linz, where he grew up, later following
his brothers across the Atlantic to Canada in 1955. He settled in Sudbury, eventually
moving to Toronto, where he worked as a small machine mechanic. Rudy developed a
strong and enduring relationship with the company owner, built on his dedication, work
ethic, and loyalty, which persisted even after his retirement.

In 1957, Rudy met Doris Lehmann, and within six months they married. Together, they
raised two children: Andrew and Samantha. Rudy was a dedicated, proud father and
husband, and who cared for Doris with deep love and devotion through her battle with
cancer until her passing in 1993.

In 1998, Rudy was lucky enough to find love again when he met Marlene Brown, also
widowed, and they married shortly thereafter. Together they lived a long and full life,
traveling the world and becoming the center of a wonderful, blended family. As a proud
and engaged grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, Rudy’s family
was always his greatest priority.

Rudy will be remembered for his loyal friendship, charm, sharp wit, and humor that
endeared him to everyone he met. He was a playful and loving Opa and a dedicated
and loving husband. Rudy taught his children to be open and fair to all people, without
prejudice, always embracing others with kindness.

Throughout his life, Rudy valued everything from poker games with lifelong friends to
his passion for travel. He found fulfillment in building projects with his brother, Hugo,
and was always ready to lend a hand. Rudy was truly a man of humility, respect, and a
quick joke, always making those around him feel at ease.
Inseparable as always, Rudy was predeceased by Hugo, who passed away just 46
hours before him.Rudy’s legacy of love, laughter, and genuine care for others will live on in the hearts of
his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply
missed.

Rudy is survived by his wife Marlene Schneider (nee Brown), his children Andrew
(Rose) and Samantha (Andrew), his stepsons Douglas (Marilyn), Richard (Cathy), and
Greg (Alison), his Grandchildren Clarisse, Sophie, Ava, Ethan, Ella, Jordan, Samantha,

Meagan, Julia, Colin, Laura, Sloane, and Reid, and his great grand children Logan and
