Janet Patricia Reid

March 19, 1934 – November 7, 2024

With broken hearts, we announce the passing of our dear, sweet, beautiful mother, Janet Patricia Reid, on Thursday, November 7, 2024, in her 91st year. Mom was predeceased by her ever-loving husband, William Forrest Reid (2020) and her beloved son, Brad William Reid (2020). Her loss will be deeply felt by her two devoted daughters, Lorelei Reid and Melanie Reid. Gran will also be dearly missed by her granddaughters and great grandsons, and her sister-in-law, Yvonne Wilson in Nova Scotia. Many nieces
and nephews across the country will lovingly remember their Aunty Patsy.

Born Janet Patricia Wilson on March 19, 1934, in Montreal, Quebec, daughter of Thomas Johnston Wilson and Annie Wilson (Smyth), Mom was the youngest of five siblings, brothers Davy, Billy and Tommy and sister Meg, all of whom predeceased her. She grew up and lived in Montreal, where she married the love of her life and had three children, until the family all moved to Ontario in the early 1970s.

Our parents enjoyed travelling across Canada and most of the United States, including Hawaii. They cruised the Caribbean, visited England, Scotland, Spain, Italy, Venezuela and Mexico. After retiring, they wintered in their Florida home for over 23 years, where they spent their days on the golf course and evenings socializing with their large circle of friends.

Mom was a soft and caring soul and made everything special. She infused her resplendent style into every aspect of her life. She had a true flair for fashion and her sense of décor was remarkable, always ahead of the curve. She was creative and talented, an accomplished artist, like her mother before her, and leaves behind many of her beautiful paintings. She had a lovely singing voice, played the piano by ear, and together she and Dad could trip the light fantastic with the best. Also known for her “one-liners”, Mom’s sense of humour was second to none.

Cremation has taken place and, a private family gathering will be held in the future. We would like to extend special thanks and appreciation to Dan and Rhuena for their unrelenting support, care and compassion over the last few years. We take comfort knowing that Mom and Dad are reunited, now resting in peace together, and they will always be remembered.

If so desired, a donation in Mom’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
