Passed away peacefully on October 2, 2024 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Beloved husband of Brenda Rageth (who passed in 2020). He never stopped missing her. Loving dad to Katie
Pereira (Marc) and beloved Opa to Ruby and Wren. Brother to Susie, Beat, and Ruth from
Switzerland, uncle to Claudia, Daniela, Lukas and Bastian. Brother-in-law to Jim Bassford (Marylou)and uncle to Sara and Leah.
He was born in Switzerland and lived there until he met Brenda while travelling in Africa. And
the rest, as they say, is history.
He worked for many years as a mechanical engineer. He was the handiest guy around and he could fix anything.
As per his family’s wishes, no funeral or visitation arrangements will be held. Cremation has
taken place.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a cause that’s close to your heart. Jürg was passionate
about supporting charities that were important to him too.
You’ll be remembered and in our hearts forever and ever, Dad. We love you.

So sorry for your loss, I’m a neighbour at the Cottage and a friend of the Bassford. We spoke many times and always saw each other on our beach walks. Your dad was a great guy.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Jurg’s recent passing. The world has lost a kind, caring and talented man.
I always enjoyed my visits with Brenda and Jurg both at home and at the cottage. Jurg was a master baker and I’ll never forget his specialty braided breads!
My heart goes out to Jurg’s family as you all learn to live without him in your nearer presence.
