Peters, J. Shirley — Died peacefully, with family at her side, on Tuesday, October 25th, 2011 at the age of 80. Predeceased by her husband Robin. Dearly loved mother of David and Mary-Lynn, Andrew and Mary, and Mary Anne and Peter Lloyd. Awesome grandma of Caitlin, Steven, Beatrice and Claire. Dear sister of Nigel and Trish and sister-in-law of Brenda and Adrian, all of England. Shirley will be remembered with fondness and respect by her extended family and friends, including her music teaching colleagues at the Toronto Board of Education and Carl Orff Canada, her music making friends at the Toronto Early Music Players Organization and CAMMAC, members of the University of Birmingham Canadian Alumni Association, the Canadian Federation of University Women of Vaughan and the Lambton Golf and Country Club, and friends from Amica and St. Joseph’s Villa in Dundas. The family wishes to acknowledge the loving care Shirley received from Katherine and Pam and the staff at St. Joseph’s Villa. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 5th at 12 p.m. at The Old Mill Inn, 21 Old Mill Road, Toronto. A reception will follow. If desired, memorial donations may be made to The Coalition for Music Education in Canada (musicmakesus.ca).
