June died peacefully, her hands held by her daughters, Bonnie and Wendy, Wednesday morning. June, loving mother of Bonnie, and husband Jim, and Wendy and her husband Bob; doting grandmother of Stephanie and husband Michael, Jennifer and husband Christopher; devoted great-grandmother of Michelle, Andrew and Nicolas; and Wendy’s step family Kim, Collin and Kristen and families; sister of Marjorie and husband Clarke; aunt to many nieces and nephews in the Pope and Passmore families; sister-in-law of Dean and Bill, Mary Marg, and Stan. Predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Wib and younger sister Betty.
June loved being a mother, felt it was her vocational call. Her gift of welcoming hospitality shone through in all that happened within her heart and thus her home. This gift was given to her by her loving parents Frank and Ada as 224 Fairview was always open to receive those who should pass through its front door. When June married Wib in 1946 and moved to Sarnia the same ‘open door’ policy continued at 169 Capel Street.
The ‘open door’ moved to 844 Duchess Drive in Applewood Acres in 1959 and continued to flourish and grow for the next fifty years. Bonnie and Wendy’s friends knew that they were welcomed to drop by even when Bonnie and Wendy weren’t there.
June’s gift of welcome and acceptance continue as she moved from Duchess Drive to AMICA at Erin Mills in 2008. Once again she met and grew friendships anew as she graced the halls of her new home.
June’s deep faith grounded and integrated her subtle wit, knowledge of cards, sense of adventure through travel, retreat experiences and family life.
June was always a pleasure to have as a companion because of her love of life and her easy going nature. June’s presence among us will be deeply missed.
