Nagalingam Nadarajah
January 5, 1927- March 15, 2025

Peacefully, in his 98 th year, at the McCall Centre for Continuing Care, Etobicoke,
Ontario, Canada. From a small town in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, to the United Nations
Headquarters in New York, and finally Mississauga Ontario, Nagalingam Nadarajah’s
life represented an extraordinary journey. Fourth son of Kathirkamar Nagalingam and
Kanthapillai Ponnammay, predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years Vamadevi, and
brothers Ramalingam, Ramanathan, Kanagalingam and Ambikaipakan. Father to
Raman, Bhawani (Gary), Sumathi (Siv) and Ramani (Mark), adored Apappa and ‘Other
Appa,’ to Sita (Brian), Alexander (Rana Belle), Darshan (Annie), Myra, Arjun, Krishnan,
Maya and Alan, and great-grandfather to Nico, Milo and Kali. Greatly missed by nieces
and nephews and their families across the globe.
A graduate of Jaffna College, the University of Colombo and the American University
(Washington DC), Nagalingam Nadarajah’s career as a statistician with the United
Nations took him and his family from Sri Lanka to Indonesia, Somalia, Libya, and New
York City (and Toledo, Ohio) before retiring to Mississauga. He was a model of strength,
determination, and dedication to family for all to follow.
The family will be holding a private service on March 20 th .
