James (Jim) passed away peacefully on January 8, 2017 at the age of 81, surrounded by his family following a long battle with dementia. He will be forever remembered by his beloved wife Rita of 58 years, their children Kathleen (Thomas), Mary (Fonz), Danny (Toni) and Sean (Andrea), beloved grandchildren Patricia (Josh), Nicholas, Adam (Sarah), Kimberly (Matt), Shannon, Kandace, Cameron (Sarah), Liam and Sarah, adored great-grandson, Jaxon, his sister Marie, many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
A funeral mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church (287 Plains Rd. Burlington, Ontario) on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Entombment to follow at Our Lady of Victory Mausoleum, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Sincerest thanks to all those at Burloak Long Term Care Centre who cared for him and embraced him as one of their family. We will forever be grateful. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society

I remember your Dad so well, living on King Edward in Montreal. He was a hard working man, always willing to help his neighbours. Cherish the good times you had with him, as they’ll help you through the sad times.

Papa,
I want you to know that you were truly one of the best people to be in my life. We shared a common bond in helping other people, but I doubt you knew how much you were helping me all along. You always supported me and gave me all the love a granddaughter needed. The pure joy on your face when you were in a room with all of us was hard not to miss.
To my always smiling, happy papa, we can rest easy now knowing you can once again do everything you loved to do. You can have the conversations you want to have, take the long walks you have been waiting too long to take. Meet again with everyone who has gone before you. Know that we will take great care of nana until the day you are reunited. I hope you can now live life the way I wish you had always been able to.
I love you so much, I will miss you dearly, and I will make sure to tell my kids how truly wonderful you were!

Dear McLaughlin Family,
Condolences for your family as I am just seeing this obituary today, January 22, 2025–that your father has passed away on January 8, 2017. For some reason all I could think of today is your family with remembrance and much love to your parents, and Kathleen, Mary, Sean and Danny, and especially your mom. She was much loved and appreciated babysitter for me and my twin sister. We remember alot, and it influenced our lives positively. It would be so lovely to see her again.
