MCCARTNEY, Margaret Ann

It is with unimaginable sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Ann McCartney (Fisher/nee Forbes).  After a lengthy battle with COPD, Margaret lost her fight September 18, 2024 at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga. Devoted mother to Tracey (Paul Blouin), and step-mother to Lynn (deceased) (George Rusk), Neil McCartney, David McCartney (Leslie Wilton), and Joan (Darryl Gougeon). Proud Grandmother to Andrew (Leslie), Michelle (Cody), Meghan (Scott), Carolyn, Ian, Connor, Maddy and Tanya; Great-Grandmother to Chloe, Alanna, Hailey, Zak and Zoey.

Proudly born in Kirkland Lake Ontario, Margaret was raised by her Aunt Jessie and Uncle Bill in Peterborough.  Her adult life was entirely spent in Bramalea/Brampton.  The majority of her career as a secretary was at American Motors/Chrysler Canada where she built many memories and life-long friendships.  Upon her retirement she and her husband Joe enjoyed traveling and created wonderful memories in Europe and as well the United States.  She lost Joe in August 2010 and lived on her own in Brampton where she moved into Holland Christian Homes Assisted Living in October 2019.

Margaret’s family would like to extend a warm thank-you to Holland Christian Homes for the wonderful support she received during her time there, particularly the last couple of years. Thank you also to the doctors and nurses for the loving care and compassion in the 3B Cardio Ward at Credit Valley.

We have known Margaret since moving to Bramalea in 1960. She was part of a very welcoming neighbourhood and Marg became a lifelong friend. We have many happy memories of times spent together when we enjoyed Marg’s sense of humour and readiness for fun. We will miss the phone calls and emails which kept us in touch until recently. Our sympathies to Tracey, Neil, David, Joan and your partners and kids. She loved you all. Our world is a little less bright with this loss. Sylvia and Glen Tarlin

I’m so sorry to hear of Marg’s passing. I worked with Marg at Chrysler for many years. Marg was always an upbeat person with a good sense of humour, and a positive outlook. May she rest in peace.
