Mason, Donna Marie (formerly Donald)

Donna Marie (formerly Donald) Mason
After their passing on September 25, 2024 at the age of86, of Wellesley, ON – The family of Donna Marie Mason and friends are deeply saddened with their passing at Grand River Hospital Kitchener-Waterloo.  Born andraised in Paris, ON, he was born the youngest son of the late Dudley and Ellen Patricia
(Taverner) Mason. Donna will be fondly remembered by their only son, Peter (Karen
Lord) of Kitchener, ON and niece Shirley (Larry) Bergeron of Mahone Bay, NS.  Donna
was predeceased by their sister Barbara Langs, and brother Robert (Bob) Mason.  They
left behind nieces, nephews and cousins. Known as Donna, they had a unique sense of
humour, always accompanied with a with a lighthearted giggle. The were quiet but had
a sunny outlook on life.  In the early years, Donna worked in the back woods of NWT
hauling wood, and was a professional long haul truckdriver.  They were well known and
liked in the community of Wellesley as they travelled about in their little red scooter,
enjoyed beer and social time with friends at the local tavern on Fridays.  You can almost
hear “I did it my way”.
Cremation has taken place.  A private family committal to sea (where their final resting
place will be to join Father and Brother) will take place at a later date in Nova Scotia.
We give thanks to the homecare workers, visiting nurses, Dr. Trussler, and the
Palliative Care Team of Grand River Hospital KW.  A special thank you to Norma Martin,
Senior Support “Worker” Extraordinaire who was there in their time of need, was a friend,
and whose assistance was immense.
