Evangelos Marangos

March 7, 1937 – October 18, 2024

 

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Evangelos Marangos (Mississauga, Ontario), who passed away on October 18, 2024.

Evangelos was proceeded by his  wife Panagiota, and his parents Konstantinos & Helen, as well as his siblings Anastasia, Victoria, and Michael.

He is survived by his children, Helen, Konstantinos, and Anna-Maria. His grandchildren, Deanne, Jason, James, Panagiota, Angelo, and Evanthia. His great-grandchildren, Jordan, Lucia, Jayanne, and Kiara, as well as his sister Konstantina and numerous nieces and nephews in Greece and in Canada.

Evangelos was born in the beautiful island of Evoia, Greece. His father was lost at sea during the war when he was only five years old.

As a young man Evangelos admired the sea and joined the Greek navy as soon as he became of age.

While still in the service he met and married Panagiota on September 7, 1958.

Soon three kids joined to complete the family.

Crisscrossing oceans, his adventures took him to foreign countries and faraway ports.

In 1968 he jumped ship in New York, and stayed there for two years.

He returned to Greece after having seen the world, but he did not stay very long. The whole family immigrated to Canada, and Toronto became home.

Evangelos will be remembered for living life on his own terms; bold, fearless, unwavering.

Always ready for a party and a good time.

A friend to those he came across, generous with his expertise, and eager to lend a helping hand.

He’ll be having coffee or a cold beer soon with so many waiting for him.

May he rest in peace.

 

 

 

 

Friends and family are invited to his visitation, funeral, and burial this Friday October 25th at St. John’s Dixie Cemetery (737 Dundas St E in Mississauga, at Cawthra). Visitation from 10am-11am in the Magnolia Chapel, followed by funeral service in the same. Evangelos will be laid to rest at St John’s Dixie Cemetery following the funeral service.
