Long, John William
In Loving Memory of Bill Long
May 4, 1945 – March 19, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Bill Long, our Husband, Dad and Gramp, who left us peacefully on Wednesday, March 19th, 2025.
Cherished husband to Kathy, loving Dad to Michelle Lemke (Carl), greatest cheerleader to his grandchildren, Cody (Mel), Carleigh (Cam), Connor, and best friend to his grand-dogs Daisy, Diesel and Ruby.
He has now joined his parents, Nova and Frank, his siblings and their spouses, Marlene (Gord), Glenda (Dick) and Larry (Sabrina). Brother-in-law to June Ann (late Wally), Jim (late June) and Jack.
He will be remembered for his love of “old school” country music, road trips with friends on his Harley Davidson, swap meets, vintage car shows, riding his John Deere lawn mower to compete with his neighbours for the ‘best mowed lawn in Harrisburg’, his kindness, endless patience, and always having a bucket full of snacks to share.
He ended his career on a path that he truly loved, spending many years on the road travelling and escorting oversized loads across Canada and the USA, enjoying the scenery and friendships made along the way.
Even in his final days, he faced life with positivity, courage, grace, continued to put his family first and never lost his sense of humour, or his ability to make us feel loved.
Bill’s “Farewell party” will be held on, what would have been his 80th birthday, Sunday, May 4th, 2025. Please join us at the Troy W.I. hall. 2295 Old Troy Road, Troy from 12 – 3 p.m.
“He stopped loving her today …”
Sending my deepest condolences on the passing of Bill Long. So sorry to hear of this passing
