Leake, Jennifer Nicole
Jennifer Nicole Leake
March 14, 1975- July 3, 2025
With great sadness we must tell you that our much loved Jen passed away on July 3, 2025 after a long illness. She was courageous and stoic, showing all of us how to live big with a progressive disease and die with strength and grace. Jen was born in Peterborough and attended St Peter’s High School followed by U of T. Starting as a student Jen went on to become a valued member of the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education.
Jen was a passionate advocate for inclusive physical activity and a beloved leader within the Faculty. She had numerous roles, including Manager of Child and Youth programs and Acting Director of Physical Activity and Equity.
AJ, as her nieces and nephews called her, was an extraordinary role model.
Jennifer is survived by her mother Peggy Leake, Peterborough, aunt Suzannah Mills, Nanaimo, siblings Patti Leake, Toronto, Dan Leake (Erika), Ancaster, and beloved nieces and nephews, Jet Lachman, Zaylie Leake, Tayo Lachman, Alexandra Leake, Graeson Leake, Andrew Leake. Predeceased by father Roy Leake and aunt Kate Mills.
Our hearts are broken and we miss her.
All are welcome at the celebration of life on September 21, 2-4 pm at the Music Room,Hart House, University of Toronto (enter from Wellesley underpass). A virtual link is also available; contact the family for this information.
To continue Jen’s commitment to social justice for children and youth you can make a donation to the Jen Leake Memorial Fund at the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education, which will honour Jen’s legacy by enhancing inclusion in child and youth programming for individuals with support needs.
So sorry to hear of Jennifer’s passing. As a teenager I used to babysit Patti, Jennifer and Danny.
I remember dressing Jennifer up whenever I was there during the day.
Thinking of you at such a difficult time.
