Kern, Sam

Sam Kern

October 8, 1964 – May 3, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sam, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, teacher, and friend. Sam left us far too soon as a result of glioblastoma, diagnosed in November 2024, but the love, joy, and adventure he brought to our lives will live on.

Sam was the devoted husband of Donna and deeply proud father of Maeve and Camryn. He was a cherished son of Agnes and his late father Harvey, and brother to Pat, Cathy, Kris, and Gord. Family was at the heart of everything Sam did.

Sam was happiest surrounded by nature—camping with his family across Canada and beyond, sailing his boat, fishing, canoeing, and enjoying peaceful days at the family cottage in Seguin, Ontario. A retired teacher, Sam carried his love of learning and curiosity into retirement.

Though his time with us was far too brief, the impact he made in his family’s life and the lives of those around him will never be forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories, enduring friendships, and a family who will carry him in their hearts forever.

A visitation for Sam will be held Thursday, May 8th, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at St. John’s Dixie Crematorium, Magnolia Room, Mississauga, ON.

So very sorry Donna and family for the loss of Sam. Far too short a time together. You have a tight unit that will continue with him forever in your hearts and memories. Thinking of you often.

I remember cousin Sam as forever embracing the latest tech, leading to his love of outdoor activities. I remember him sharing those activities by teaching them patiently to others. I remember his humour, even as kids, him doing tricks with candles at supper. In the decades ahead, I hope that Donna, Maeve, and Camryn will take comfort in Sam’s enduring love and abundant memories of happy times. Sending love to Donna, Agnes and all the Kerns and families.
