Jordan, Gary
With a broken heart, I announce the passing of my first best friend and brother, Gary Jordan. As per Gary’s wishes, he was surrounded by family and close friend Paul Quinlan while we said our final goodbyes before he peacefully passed on Friday May 24th, 2024. Gary was grateful to live in a country where he could receive MAID and die with dignity.
Gary was born in Kitchener and raised in Preston. Son to Clarence Jordan and Lorna Jordan (predeceased). Brother to, Shelley (Tony) and Trudi Lynn (predeceased). Stepson to Helen (predeceased) and stepbrother to Stephen Finch (Peggy).
Gary will be missed by niece Paula (Paul) and nephew Joel (Angela). The three of them bonded over their great love of making and listening to music. Gary was also great uncle to Keenan and Billie.
Gary was a graduate of Fanshawe College in the advanced motor vehicle mechanics apprenticeship program. After some time working as an auto mechanic, Gary decided to attend teachers’ college and upon completion he taught in Cochrane, Ontario as well as teaching Computer Education at Conestoga College. Gary was also lucky to have worked for many years with good friend Dennis Clark.
A perfectionist with all tasks he undertook, his love of music was no exception. Gary spent most of his free time becoming a proficient guitar player. With a mechanical mind, his creations were never ending. I can remember one summer when Gary and his best friend Garth Owens built a bicycle built for two. An avid reader, he was knowledgeable on a variety of subjects and the teacher in him was always willing to impart his experience.
“Music, when soft voices die, vibrates in the memory.” – Love you Gary.
