In Loving Memory of Hermine Ann Thorrington nee. Romeo

It is with great sadness that the family of Hermine Ann Thorrington announces her peaceful passing on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at the age of 63, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Georgetown, Guyana, Hermine lived a life filled with love, laughter, and remarkable dedication. She was employed by the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto in the department of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician, where she made a lasting contribution to the healthcare community. Later, she continued her career at numerous Shoppers Drug Mart locations. Hermine was known for her unmatched work ethic, often juggling multiple jobs at once, and always doing so with a smile.

Hermine will be remembered for her contagious laughter, warm heart, and vibrant spirit—always the life of the party. She was a proud and active member of the Guyanese community in Toronto, and her presence left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her six surviving siblings: brothers Jerome Romeo, Peter (Keyola) Romeo, Michael (Shondell) Romeo; sisters Teresa (Elton) Graman; Dawn Romeo; her half-sister Juliet Paul; as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family, and close friends.

Hermine was predeceased by her beloved parents, Daphne and Jerome Romeo and by her sister Rhonda Romeo and her brother Aubrey Romeo.

A celebration of Hermine’s life will take place on Tuesday, May 20th, at St. John’s Dixie Cemetery & Crematorium located at 737 Dundas Street East, Mississauga.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in her memory.

Rest in peace, Hermine. Your light, laughter, and love will be forever missed and cherished.
