“Missed today…
Loved forever…
Remembered always…
Forgotten…Never.”
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we say goodbye to our precious mother as she left this world in the early hours of Sat May 3rd. While our sorrow is immense, after a courageous years-long battle with worsening Alzheimer’s, we are also grateful that she is now at peace, her suffering over, and she has rejoined her own mother who passed on only 10 yrs ago.
Mom was amazing…one of a kind…possibly the most positive, optimistic, joyous, giving and happy human being ever to have walked this earth. She loved us all deeply and fiercely, and we always knew we could count on her for an ear, a shoulder, a gentle bop on the forehead, or advice and guidance, as needed. Mom adored her family first and foremost, but also loved music (sang for many years with Sweet Adelines in multiple locals), animals, the countryside, and traveling…whether it be by car, train, bus, or plane. She was a keen, skilled and avid gardener (an actual plant whisperer) and loved to play word games, either in books or online, taking immense pride in herself for her skills in doing so. Having worked in our early years as a Librarian in a small country library, she instilled in us, her 3 kids, a love of books and always stressed the importance of literacy via reading, insisting it was the key to success in life. In her later years, mom was a devoted care-giver to her own mother for the last 20 years of Granny’s life and was completely selfless in that endeavor. She also made many friends throughout her life, who cared deeply for her…she was that loveable.
Survived by her 3 children, Marie Bridel, Jeannie Gane (Lorne), and Glenn Hubbers (Mollie); grandchildren Chris Gane, Tim Gane (Jo), Jacci Hunter (Alex), Alex Gane, Alyssa Bridel-Bond (Chris), Maddy Phaurest (Tristan), AJ Bridel and Dana Jordan; Great grandchildren Dyson, Ellie, Ronan and Lucy; and brothers Michael LeBlanc (Brenda) and Maurice LeBlanc (Carol) as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Predeceased by her parents, Edgar and Jeannette LeBlanc, brothers Ed, Jerry and Leonard LeBlanc, and son-in-law Roy Gane.
RIP Momma, Gramma, GG, Doe…we will love you forever and always.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date in August during a family gathering for mom’s birthday week. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be welcome and greatly appreciated.
