It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Timothy John Hopkins
at his home on June 5, 2023 in his 53rd year after a short illness.
Tim is survived by his mother Shirley, sister Donna Jourdain (John) and daughter, Sarah
and her mother Brandi. Loving uncle to Ryan Hopkins and Meagan Gesner-Robbins (Dave).
He is predeceased by his father Gary (Feb 2023).
Tim lived life on his terms. He respected everyone no matter who they were. He loved a
good debate no matter what the topic. He was the founder of the Facebook group Brantford
Beefs. As a member of the Brantford Substance Users Network (BSUN), he worked
tirelessly as an advocate for local substance users in a bid to find solutions to end the opioid
overdose crisis.
Tim attended Victoria, Graham Bell, Tollgate and later BCI high school. He also studied
political science at McMaster University. Tim was a good friend, son and uncle. His
daughter was the light of his life. They enjoyed watching movies and their monthly “Daddy
Daughter” date nights.
Tim loved movies and reading politics. He was a firm believer in letting people live however
they wanted. He was a very fun and loving person who had a heart of gold.
A gathering has been planned by members of his Facebook group on his birthday, June
22 nd, at Edward Goold Park (corner of McMurray and Pearl Street) at 8pm. A more formal
celebration is being planned for mid-July, with details to follow.
