Guymer, Sharon Louise
October 13, 1950 – March 16, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sharon Guymer (Ritchie) in her 75 th
year, at the Brantford General Hospital, on March 16, 2025 with her loving family by her side,
after a brief illness.
Sharon, the cherished daughter of the late Ron and Audrey (Anderson) Ritchie, was raised in
Dundas, ON as the eldest of six children.
Sharon married the love of her life, Steve, and they shared 54 wonderful years of marriage.
She was a devoted wife, mother, nana and great-nana who loved, indulging and spoiled her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and always made them feel cherished. Anyone who
met Sharon was charmed by her quick wit and sometimes left speechless by her unexpected
sense of humor.
She is survived by her children, Kari (Shane) Sheppard, and Greg (Somer) Guymer.
Grandchildren Taylor, Mackenzie, Maddison, Jacob, Hannah, and Shaelee and her great-
grandchildren Jaxon, Nirvana, and Maverick all held a special place in Nana’s heart.
Sharon will also be deeply missed by her siblings Dale (Jim) Johnston, Raymond (Debbie)
Ritchie, Ron (Kelly) Ritchie, and Patty (Bruce) Thachuk. Predeceased is Elwood Ritchie. She
will be fondly remembered by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and extended family
members.
A heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses in ICU especially Karen, Jason, and Magda, for
their exceptional care and support of Sharon and her family. As per Sharon’s wishes, a private
celebration of her life will be held at a later date with her family.
Online wishes can be left below.
Mine and Liz’s condolences to all of Sharon’s family We were lucky enough to spend one of Sharon’s last week with her in Florida. And of course that meant lots of reminiscing and lots of laughter. You will be missed by all Rest in peace dear niece
Sending my most heartfelt condolences to Steve and family and Dale, Raymond, Ron and Patty and their families.
Sharon is my cousin. Sharon’s mom, Audrey, and my mom, Sylvia, were sisters and were both pregnant in 1950. Sharon came first on October 13th and I arrived 18 days later on the 31st. Sharon and I share the same middle name, “Louise”. I don’t know if that was by design or accident. I do know that Princess Anne was born in August of 1950 and one of her given names is Louise. My Mom told me that was the inspiration for including Louise in my name, possibly the same for the naming of Sharon.
Our paths have not crossed for many years but I do remember visits to Aunt Audrey and Uncle Ron’s when I was younger, always a busy place and never a dull moment!
Once again, I am so sorry for your loss. Hugs to all.
Heather
We are so grateful for our time with Steve and Sharon while living in Dundas. Sharon was such a wonderful person to be around and made our time there so special. Thank you Sharon for taking this young mom into your circle and making life so much fun.You will be missed.
Our heartfelt sympathy to our sister’s family. Missing your smile, our chats & your love. Forever and ever you will remain in our hearts. 💔
Our deepest condolences to Steve, Kari, Greg and their families on Sharon’s passing. You have lost a major piece of your family puzzle, we are truly sorry for your loss. We are deeply saddened by the sudden, unexpected loss of our sister/sister in law Sharon or as I always called her “big”. She will forever be in our hearts. We were so fortunate that Sharon finally made it to Florida and we did all the things she truly enjoyed except I didn’t want to go to a charity bingo. While here in Florida Bruce played a video joke for her and the three of us couldn’t stop laughing that night.with the punchline carrying over for days. She always loved a good joke (the saltier, the better). Sharon was like a second mother to me all of my life and cherished my kids like her own, always asking about them and she regularly called Eric who lives in California just to see how he’s doing. Eric & Scott referred to her as Aunt Toad. No words can explain the void we are all feeling with Sharon’s sudden loss but we all have some very fond memories of her, which brings a smile to our faces. Rest in peace big Sista! Til we meet again. ❤️ Patty & Bruce
