Gail Lamb

Gail Jean Lamb

(Nee: Jordan)

1941 – 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, sister and wife, Gail Lamb.  Gail passed away peacefully, at Erin Mills Lodge on Friday August 23, 2024 . Gail is survived by her loving husband, Don, of 60 years. Much loved mother of Brenda (Franco Soligo) and Shannon (Jay Bibby). Loving Grandmother of Keira, Jordan, Teagan and Luke. Cherished sisters Janice Jordan and Janette (Bonnie) Wudrick. Gail will be greatly missed by sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, neighbours and many friends.

Born and raised in Dauphin, Manitoba, Gail had a zest for life.  She loved to be involved in all school and community activities and was the social butterfly of the Jordan Girls. Gail was an excellent athlete in track and field and basketball.  She loved to dance and ice skate in winter competitions.

Gail graduated as a Medical Laboratory Technologist at Misericordia Hospital, in Winnipeg.  After meeting Don, the love of her life, on the beach in Clear Lake, Manitoba, her life changed forever. After marrying in 1964, Don’s engineering career took them from Winnipeg, to Edmonton, to Vancouver and finally settling in Mississauga, Ontario.

Moving to a new province, with two young children, Gail took on the role of domestic engineer, with resiliency and determination.  Whether volunteering at her children’s school, taking numerous courses in everything from car mechanics, ceramics, cake decorating, or being an avid yoga lover, Gail was a lifelong learner and always willing to try new things.

As an empty nester, Gail dedicated countless hours as a volunteer at Trillium Hospital, where her compassion and kindness touched the lives of many. As well, Gail and Don loved to travel and explored Canada from coast to coast.Their adventures by air and cruise ships took them to many corners of the world, creating cherished memories that she shared with family and friends. After Don’s retirement, they spent many enjoyable winters in Palm Springs, California, enjoying meeting their newfound “Snowbird” friends.

For Gail, her family was her pride and joy, the centre of her world, and her love for them knew no bounds. Gail will be remembered for her nurturing soul, grace, compassion and unconditional love.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the Alzheimer’s Society of Peel and Erin Mills Lodge. A special thanks to the PSWs at the Erin Mills Lodge who loved and cared for Gail.

Gail’s life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, the lives she touched and the love she shared. We will be having a Celebration of Life for Gail this fall.

For those who wish, donations may be made in memory of Gail to the Alzheimer’s Society of Peel.

I’m sending my heartfelt condolences for your loss. Gail was a beautiful person inside and out. She was one of the most compassionate, kind, caring, loving person, I ever met. She was a 2nd mom to me. We took line dancing, together, hosted my family and friends on my wedding day and was a wonderful shoulder to cry on when I had heartbreaks. I will miss her very much. Sending all of you loving hugs

I know writing this must have been difficult but it’s a wonderful testament to my Auntie Gail and really captures who she was and how I remember her. I remember coming to visit her as a young girl and feeling so blessed and excited to be able to spend time with my loving and kind Aunt. I always felt cherished around her and wished we lived closer so I could see her more often. She will be missed.
