Donald Jackson Cross of Tiny, Ontario
Born July 1928 in Hanover, Ontario, son of the late Mildred and William Cross
Don was predeceased by wife, Helen Elizabeth (nee Ostic) and daughter Margaret Foley, only sibling,
Harry (Shirley) Cross, second wife, Marie (nee Esch), brother-in-law Ivan (Bette) Ostic and sister-in-law
Marjorie (Arthur) Leslie
He passed away December 23 rd at Cambridge Memorial Hospital surrounded by family
He will be sadly missed by son William (Madonna) Cross, Margaret’s husband Allan Foley, daughter
Karen (Walter) Dal Pio, grandchildren Melissa, Donald (Sarah), Patricia (Glen), Bernard (Debbie), Rolande
(Jason) and Leon, great-grandchildren Nicole (Alain), Natasha (Wayne), Monique (Jaysen) and Sofia
(Laine), great-great-grandchildren Mila and Mason, many nieces and nephews, and brother and sister-
in-law Ronald and Barbara Ostic
A proud member of the Air Cadets during his youth, he trained for overseas duty but was unable to
serve due to the war’s end. Don began his career in retail management at the age of 16 in the Men’s
Wear Department of T. Eaton Co. His work took him and his family across Ontario, ending in Thunder
Bay where they lived for twenty years. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with loved ones. Don
and Helen drove their family coast to coast across Canada with their camper. After Helen’s passing, Don
settled in Tiny where he continued his travels, touring much of North and Central America and Europe.
A skilled craftsman, Don was known for his intricate sailing ship models and many various wood
projects. He was an avid curler and bowler and a loyal member of the 40K Kinsmen Club.
We will miss him deeply
A Celebration of  Donald’s Life will take place on Sunday April 27, 2025 at 2pm at the Fergus Legion, 500 Blair Street, Fergus, Ontario. Internment of cremated remains will take place on Monday April 28, 2025 at 11am at the Belsyde Cemetery, 400 Thistle Street, Fergus, Ontario.
