Biro, Michael (Mihaly)“Mike” Joseph
In Loving Memory of
Michael (Mihaly)“Mike” Joseph Biro
Born November 11, 1937.
With his loving family at his side, at the age of 87 Mike passed away May 30th 2025 after a short illness. A survivor of both a serious brain tumor and prostate cancer, Mike had an infectious smile and was very social, always stopping to talk with everyone and anyone to get to know their story, but many didn’t know his. Born in Nyíracsád, Hungary, Mike spent his childhood under Nazi rule and his teen years under Communist rule before escaping occupied Hungary in 1957 through Austria. When he arrived in Canada he had five dollars and didn’t know a word of English. He made his way to Brantford, quickly learned the language, worked hard and became a Canadian citizen December 3, 1962. Mike always said, he is Canadian first and that “Canada is the best country in the world”, but also strived to keep his Hungarian heritage alive. As a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Marilyn (Patera) and three sons from his first marriage to Rosemary and their families; Mike, Jr. (Joanne) & Melissa, Noah, Tori, Ally and Sam, Tim (Shari) & Nicole (Laci), David and Chris (Trish) & Tia (Ty), Kristie. Mike’s favorite parting phrase to his family was “I love you, have a great life” so as we say goodbye to a man who survived many hardships and seemed to make the best of them, “Goodbye Mike, Dad, Grandpa and Nagypapa…HAVE A GREAT LIFE!” We love you always, will never forget you and we will ring the bell in your home town to let them know the world is now less one of their sons.
Mike, Tim, Chris and Families. I remember your Father always smiling. I’m sure he will be missed by many. Good Bye and have a great life!❤️
