Barry Jackson Cooper

Barry Jackson Cooper

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barry Jackson Cooper, 93, of Markham, Ontario on May 4th, 2023. Barry passed peacefully with his family by his side. Barry was born in Brampton, Ontario on July 14th, 1929.

He is survived by Rosalyn, his wife of 71 years and the love of his life. He was a loving father to his four children: Cathy (Michael), Nora (Steven), Kevin (Sandy) and Mark (Joan). “Pa” had a special place in his heart for his 8 grandchildren: Sarah (John), Keegan, Ryan (Laura), Amanda (John), Rebecca (Ryan), Brittany (Mark), Mason and Cole and 4 great grandchildren: Cooper, Harper, Eleanor and Addison.

Barry will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and friendly nature. More than anything else, Barry loved being with his family and friends. Barry grew up spending his summers at the family cottage on Georgian Bay and loved spending time on the water (swimming, sailing, and canoeing). In his teenage years he went on to become a lifeguard which is how he met his beloved Rosalyn. He spent countless hours in his workshop refinishing and repairing furniture for family and friends. Barry also learned the art of stained glass and chair caning. Barry was always open to learning new skills so over the years he was the plumber, electrician, carpenter, and appliance repairman around the house and for others. At 70+ years of age he learned to use a computer and went on to enjoy reading and playing puzzles on his iPad.

Barry was very appreciative for the excellent care he was given by the Unionville Home Society and the family would like to thank the staff for their loving and compassionate care.

Donations may be made to the Unionville Home Society or to your Local Food Bank.

Please join us to celebrate the life of Barry Jackson Cooper on June 3rd from 1-3 at Victoria Square Community Centre, 2929 Elgin Mills Road East, Markham.
