Anna Banas

Oct. 30, 1937 – Nov. 24, 2022

Anna Banas, beloved mother/mamusia, grandma/babcia, great-grandma/pra-babcia, aunt/ciocia, sister/siostra and friend/przyjaciel, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2022, at age 85 in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. She was born Oct. 30, 1937, in a picturesque village of Pigany, Poland, to Jerzy Korchowiec and Katarzyna Korchowiec (Buniowski). Anna is survived by her brother Andrzej Korchowiec and she was predeceased by sister Maria Smola, and brothers Jan Korchowiec and Michal Korchowiec. Anna is survived by her three children: son Jerzy Banas (Renata Banas), daughter Jolanta Rudy, and daughter Elizabeth Banas. Dearest grandmother of Nicole, Violet, Eric, Keith, Kasia, Margaret, Katharine, and William. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. She was also survived by her loving niece and dear friend Elizabeth Kowalski (Edmund). An enormous thank you to Joanna Banas and all those who cared for Anna in her greatest times of need with her Dementia illness.

Anna lived life with simple pleasures and dedicated her life to her children and family. She loved to talk for hours on the phone, cooking/baking, playing cards, solving Polish crossword puzzles, watching soap operas and old Chuck Norris movies to learn English. Anna loved spending time outdoors riding her bike and taking her grandchildren to the park, and most of all mushroom picking with anyone who would come with her.

May you dance, may you run, may you sing, and may you play your harmonica to the everlasting beat of your feet as you rest peacefully in heaven and look over proudly on your family. We love and miss you Anna, you will always be in our hearts.

Close family, friends and others whose lives Anna’s life touched are invited to a service on Friday, Dec. 2, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Church, 235 Brant Ave., Brantford, Ontario, at 11 a.m. Followed by St. Joseph’s Cemetery for burial.

Any condolences can be directed to St. Joseph’s Church.
