July 5,1988 ~ August 22,2023

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, wife and sister Alexandra Sophia Asimakopoulos (Douvros) on August 22nd at the young age of 35.

Alexandra will lovingly be remembered by her husband, Kostas Asimakopoulos, her parents Vasilios and Patra Douvros and Maria Pepona, her sister Maria and Kostandina, her sister-in-law Sofia and Angela and her brother-in-law Nick and Theo.

Alexandra was born on July 5th, 1988 in Athens, Greece. Alexandra was the youngest of three sisters, Maria and Kostandina. She was baptized in Greece by Patra Douvros and was immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1991 where Vasilios and Patra Douvros adopted her. Alexandra grew up in Mississauga in which she went to school and involved herself in the Greek community by volunteering at Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church. She took an interest in law and attended Humber College to attain her degree and her dream of becoming a Law Clerk. Alexandra worked various jobs including hospitality and insurance. Alexandra and Kosta’s paths crossed through various events and festivals at Prophet Elias and mutual acquaintances. They began dating in 2012 which quickly turned into an unconditional love for one another and they got married on June 3rd, 2017. Alexandra and Kosta shared many wonderful years together and made many incredible memories with each other.

Alexandra was a selfless and kind individual that went above and beyond for her family and her friends. She showered them with love and was always there for anything they needed. She was known for her witty sense of humour, the endless memes she would send, and a smile and laugh that would brighten everyone’s day. Alexandra had a love of cooking and baking and was known for her delicious desserts. She loved hosting celebrations for family and friends which often turned into annual holiday gatherings. Alexandra had an endless love for her dogs Shyla, late Ouzo, Lily and Mia and loved spending time with them and taking them on adventures.

Alexandra will be missed by all those who loved her unconditionally, she will always be with us and forever in our hearts.

~A Poem For Alexandra~

A heart of gold stopped beating
Working hands at rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
Leaves and flowers may wither,
The golden sun may set
But the hearts that loved you dearly
Are the ones that won’t forget.

I did not know Alex anywhere near as long as most, but she became a fun, refreshing and someone who I looked forward to chatting with at work everyday. I was floored when I was told she was no longer with us.

She would often text me with a something funny and was always asking when my fiancé was going to arrive, and was so excited for us. I will miss her terribly. Rest in Peace my friend.

I am very saddened to hear of Alex’s passing. I only worked with her a few short months, but in that time she made work mornings that much more bearable, with her quick wit, kind heart and beautiful smile. There are some people who walk this earth and if you are lucky enough, even for a split second to cross paths with them they leave a huge impact on your heart and she was that person. Sending my condolences and deepest sympathies to Alex’s family and friends. RIP beautiful girl❤️
