PROVEAU, Norma ( Sim)

PROVEAU, Norma ( Sim) – It is with profound grief that we announce the passing of a great person, friend, and mother. Norma passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital, Freeport site, in Kitchener on Saturday June 4, 2016, at the age of 82 years. Mom is now at peace as she is reunited with the love of her life and best friend for 62 years, Edward Proveau, who passed away just 6 months ago. Her three girls, Leslee, Lenna and Leanne, and the family were blessed to be able to spend the last few weeks with her, helping her complete her bucket list – watching the Jays, seeing special friends, teaching her granddaughter to make jam, completing her virtual road trip to her daughters house in Georgia and most importantly, going to a nursery to buy perennial flowers, now a planted, yearly memory of a time spent together. The most profound memory and legacy we will all have of Norma is her special ability to have a unique relationship with every person she ever met – remembering every name, even the guy in the local food market; everyone loved her. Her family was her life and she could not believe that all of the pictures on her bulletin board at the hospital were a result of the love of her and dad : Leslee  (the late Ted), Lenna  (Kenneth) and Leanne Proveau (Luis ). Beloved Gma of Courtney (Thora) , Matthew( Meghan), Melinda (L J), Brianne, Brenna, Kira, Jason (Josephine), Sherri (Matt), Carl (Raven) and Brent. Added to her family list were the partners of her grandchildren who helped create the next family tree branch of Great grama grama, blessing her with 10 + 1 coming, great grandchildren. Norma was an only child but was always surrounded by friends, her kids friends, cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, in-laws: all were embraced and made welcome in her home. Norma requested that we celebrate her life with recognition of the people that helped her, took such good care of her at home and in hospital, the many physicians, nurses, PSW`s,PTs, hospital staff, the list is too long to mention names, but you know who you are and how she valued you – it came by way of an array of homemade Jams at Christmas time or it came with a gift card to tims to share with a team. She never forgot to say thank you with words, a card, a call, and so in keeping with this special way about her, she asked that in lieu of flowers, cards, travel to a celebration of life event : please make a donation specifically requesting it be placed toward Staff Education to any one of the following hospitals listed below. She wanted those that cared for her to understand how she appreciated all they did for her and her family, she wanted a way to give it back because she saw how each of them gave of themselves for others.
