Goralewski, Jon

Goralewski, Jon A F

Jon Goralewski passed away peacefully at home, September 9th, in his 45th year, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. His final days were surrounded by many loved ones. He is deeply missed by his wife, Robin Rutten, and children, Benjamin and Riley, as well as his family and many friends.

Jon is survived by his parents, Jon Goralewski Sr. and Bonnie Goralewski (nee Leithwood), and his siblings, Joe Goralewski, Dan Goralewski (Sharon), and Tina Tregunna (Pete). He is also remembered by his in-laws, Janet and Barb Boyle Jackson, and siblings-in-law, Deb Bowler Sprague (Kirk), Kim Hall, Brenda Bowler Mackenzie (Craig), and Mandy Rutten (Shannon). His nieces and nephews, David, Zach, Kate, Jess, Abby, Natalia, and great-nieces and nephews, Araalyn, Shane, Scarlett, and Ali, will cherish his memory.

Born in Brampton on July 16th, 1980, Jon moved to Acton as a young child, where he made many lifelong friends. Known for his practical jokes, Jon delighted in repeating the same nicknames and silly gags to his siblings, such as gifting pillows, calendars, and empty wrapped boxes, or hiding gift cards in CD packages. He continued these traditions with his new family, becoming a legend in the Christmas draw with his scrunchies, tasteful statues, eccentric shirts, and, of course, the “moulan bouche.”

Jon grew up playing soccer and volleyball, continuing to play volleyball until his health no longer allowed. These sports helped him form many of his closest bonds, as he was both social and fiercely loyal.

Jon studied HVAC at George Brown College and worked at Consistent Cooling for many years. He loved his job, particularly his co-workers and clients (friends) at the Region of Peel.

A passionate sports fan, Jon loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, and the Toronto Blue Jays. He enjoyed the banter of his fantasy football league and always appreciated the comfortable seats at Blue Jays games.

Jon was the embodiment of laughter, loyalty, and community. He was a gatherer of people and loved to entertain. In the last few years, he learned to cook on his smoker and, with the help of friends and neighbors, having made the best brisket on his birthday this past July. Many nights were spent in the yard with his neighbour friends, and watching music concerts by the pool.

Fatherhood came naturally to Jon, he was an exceptional Dad, and his love for Ben and Riley knew no bounds. Jon showered them both with love and praise every chance he got. Even through chemo and radiation, he moderated online COVID kindergarten and raised money for Riley’s walk for Down Syndrome, managed daycare drop-offs, and enjoyed special dates and trips with both of them.

Jon loved to travel, especially to warm destinations where he could enjoy the beach, pool, and simply relax while watching the clouds go by. He met his wife, Robin, in late 2010 and proposed with the help of his friends in a unique and playful way. He always made her feel special and loved. They celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary this past August, with “Love in the air.”

A funeral Mass will be held in honour of Jon on September 24th at 10:30am at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 14400 Argyll Rd, Georgetown. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 12th, from 1:00-4:00pm at the Royal Canadian Legion, 15 Wright Ave, Acton. Anyone who wishes to make a donation in Jon’s name can do so to
